M3 MacBook Air review 5 months after release

In this article, I’ll review the M3 version of the MacBook Air after using it for five months.

Conclusion

The M3 MacBook Air offers an environment that’s just right for most people. While the evolution from the M2 may not be significant, it’s a fantastic upgrade from Intel or M1 models.

Pros:

  • Wider usability: Thanks to the notch introduced with the M2 Air, the usable display area is broader.
  • Impressive performance: Apple has announced that it delivers 13 times the power compared to Intel-based MacBook Air models.
  • Lighter and more compact: Personally, I think this design is better than the previous one.
  • Low power consumption: It can operate on as little as 4 watts during low-intensity tasks.

Cons:

  • Still falls short of the MacBook Pro: If you expect to handle resource-intensive tasks frequently, you might want to consider the MacBook Pro, which allows for larger RAM configurations. As of the time of writing, the MacBook Pro is equipped with the M4 chip, making it a better option for such users.

Detail

I purchased the M3 MacBook Air as my first notebook.
Until then, I had been using a 2013 iMac.

(and I was constantly knocking the mouse off the desk)

Now, let’s get to the main topic.
The M3 MacBook Air is astounding.
For first-time Mac users, it’s sure to be a jaw-dropping experience.

Moving files happens in an instant, like a breeze.
Copying files? Even a 1GB file takes about 10 seconds at most.
Unzipping files is also incredibly fast.

As for charging, the M3 MacBook Air comes with MagSafe.
MagSafe is dedicated to charging, so while it doesn’t support data transfer, it’s “safe.”
MagSafe supports up to 70W power delivery, making charging very fast.
Apple states that it can charge from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes.

In the end, I wouldn’t recommend it to those who already own an M2 MacBook,
but it’s definitely recommended for Intel users and even M1 users.
In fact, this article was written using an M3 MacBook Air.

See you next time!
