How long will the M series be supported in the future?

Predicted chip compatibility for macOS as of January 2025

Summary

M1

I think it will be compatible until 2027-2035.

M2

I think it will be compatible until 2030-2040.

M3

I think it will be compatible until 2034-2040.

Detail

Regarding macOS compatibility,
the M series only goes from M1 to M4 at least, so even if management continues, it is unlikely to be as complicated as Intel‘s.
In fact, there are Normal, Pro, Max, and Ultra in the M series, but they still have the same structure, so even in the future, managing compatibility with past chips will not be too difficult.
In the case of Intel, it will be difficult because there are so many components such as memory and T2 chips.
Given these possibilities, it is likely that the M1 chip will be compatible until 2030, and the M3 after 2035.
However, some new features will likely be incompatible starting from the M1.
